The classmate post I decided to respond to was David’s Dear White People post. This post was interesting to me because I liked the way he pointed out the different identities showcased in the episodes. For me Dear White People was very easy to relate to. While some of the things were exaggerated, for the most part, the images, background music, slang and jokes all represented the current black pop culture. It was exciting to experience a show that I could relate to. I’m sure Blacks who were my age when A Different World came out in felt the same.

Another thing that made Dear WHite People cool was the fact that this show was created on Netflix, specifically for Black people. It dealt with Black political issues in a real and truthful way, it was unapologetic. I was skeptical of this show at first, because I thought that this would be a white person’s take or a black person afraid to actually write creatio. I was relieved to see the contrasting perspectives within the black race shown. The cover of Dear White People was one of my favorite topics of this semester. This show will forever be a classic that showed some of the issues the black academic faces.
