a black(ish) culture

Let's talk about "Black Culture." Or how it often is not even defined by actual black people… "Black Culture" is frequently used as an opportunity to capitolize, we know this. (cough, Jordans) BUT, by the time a product or idea relevant to black culture is being sold, it’s already been completely reinterpreted by white people. We are often told what being black is by people who aren't. Black hip hop artists and other black musicians are molded to appeal to the masses by white label executives, but a lot of the lyrical inspiration of black hip hop can’t (shouldn’t be able to) be molded to a white mass, because it doesn’t pertain to a white mass, but they still do it. Television shows and movies with black characters might have no black writers or directors. We are changing black culture, raping black culture, throwing black culture away, to better appeal to who? White people? We don’t need to have their culture appeal to us, it isn’t ours. We are alienating people from their own culture, because we are taking their culture away from them entirely.
