Earlier this week, Gabrielle Union appeared on "The View" and she talked about an array of topics. The one topic that has gone viral on social media and what has caught my attention is when Gabrielle Union is talking about raising her black son. In the video clip, you hear how Gabrielle and her husband Dwayne Wade, although rich and well off, have to have these candid conversations with her son called "Black Truth Bombs." Throughout the interview, Gabrielle talks about how it's hard to know at one point when you reveal the truth about the world to your kids. At what point do you tell them that they cannot do the same things as their white friends do because at the end of the day, her son is black and he can be stereotyped just like any other black man.

I find this interview and what Gabrielle is saying very interesting. Mainly because I think that there is this preconceived notion that just because you have money and fame, doesn't mean that you will not experience racism, discrimination, or even worse. I appreciate the fact that Gabrielle talks so candidly about this situation because as she mentions in the video, before they realize who you are, or whose you are, you are still just a black man and that is threatening to a lot of people. It's very unfortunate that this is the world we still live in, but I have to say that I am happy that people like Gabrielle Union doesn't have her head in the clouds and that she recognizes the severity of the situation her son can possibly get in.
