In the second verse Lamar states, “I know the walls, they can listen, I wish they could talk back” here K-Dot is referring to the people that are willingly ignorant to the fact that there are racial barriers in this country. He understands that they can hear these shouts throughout the racial barriers, but their pride is too strong for them to have a conversation and begin the narrative of breaking apart racism in America.

“Sick venom in men and women overcome with pride

A perfect world is never perfect, only filled with lies

Promises are broken and more resentment come alive”

Lamar is speaking to his audience to realize that we do not live in a perfect world. Those that create or believe that narrative will only be filled with hate because they will not be able to humble themselves on the fact that America still has a large amount of African-American oppression. It is far from perfect.

When I think of Kendrick Lamar, I think of a lyrical genius, and a man on a mission to kill oppression amongst his brothers and sisters while channeling it through his form of art. YES the beats are great, YES the flow is mad crazy, but what will open the ignorant eye is the breakdown of his meaningful and powerful lyrics
